Kris Bowers
Educated at The Juilliard School, Emmy Award-winning composer and pianist Kris Bowers uses his musical talents to create unique and innovative music that pays homage to his jazz roots. His work put him at the forefront of Hollywood’s emerging generation of genre-defying composers, and in 2011, Bowers won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Competition and was chosen by Aretha Franklin as a favorite. Since then, Bowers has worked on many projects and multi-disciplinary collaborations, including scoring documentaries like Kobe Bryant’s Muse and the Oscar-winning film Green Book. Bowers’ work and music are the focus of the short documentary A Concerto is a Conversation (Mountainfilm 2021). His most recent film The Last Repair Shop (Mountainfilm 2024) won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film.
