Mountainfilm 2011: Saturday May 28 Events You Don't Want to Miss
Trying to plan out your Saturday? There are a bunch of great events on tap, here are a couple of our favorites:
Mountainfilm Inspired Me To
Swing by our photo booth at the Ice Cream Social and tell us how Mountainfilm has inspired you to take action!
Main Street, 2-3:30 p.m.
Prudence Mabhena
When Prudence Mabhena took the stage after a screening of Music by Prudence, the short documentary about her life, it was one of the most electrifying moments of Mountainfilm 2010. This incredibly talented young lady was born with a debilitating condition called arthogryposis that left her severely handicapped.
Palm Theatre, 6 p.m.
Shakespeare High Screening + Performance
This well-made and energetic film is a worthy addition to the flourishing competition documentary genre as it follows a Shakespeare festival for high-school kids in Southern California. The heart of the event is a competition to see who can perform the best scene from Macbeth, Othello and Midsummer Nights Dream. Not only are we screening the film, but there will be a live performance of a Shakespeare scene by several characters in the film.
Nugget Theatre, 6 p.m.
Spoken Word and Multimedia Performance by Craig Childs, Timmy O'Neill and More!
This will be a powerful multi-media performance. Master wilderness story-teller Craig Childs, backed up by an all-star band consisting of the outlandish and legendary Timmy ONeill on drums and others will make up eclectic 3 piece band. Childs will be on stage giving the story behind the scenes for Power in the Pristine, taking you on a journey from ice cap to sea in Chilean Patagonia. This source to sea exploration will give the viewer a visceral sense of what it is like to travel on one of the most remote and beautiful free flowing rivers in the world that is threatened by a mage-hydroelectric project.
Sheridan Opera House, 9 p.m.
12 Shots - The Power of RAVE - Bringing Awareness into Action
iLCP's 12Shot evenings bring together a mixed audience to discuss storytelling. A series of photographic compilations, each consisting of twelve images by one photographer focused on a single storyline, is projected. The only words are the photographers name and a title. Inspiring people to effect change in 12 shots is not an easy feat. 12Shots shows how it can be done.

Giveaways: SONY NEX and Think Tank bags!
Hongas, 133 South Oak, 9:30 p.m.
