March For the Planet: iMatter March, May 7th-14th
Over the weekend, 16 year-old Alec Loorz, one of our previous special guests, and a team of other motivated youth at Kids vs. Global Warming took part in the iMatter March.
From iMatter:
Since we will inherit this world, iMatter was created to reach across regional, ideological, and ethnic borders, to empower youth to organize, and be heard on the issue of global climate change. We are not only the generation who will suffer most from its consequences. We are also the generation who will bring about the change needed to create a sustainable and just society that values nature and future generations as much as short term interests.
iMatter Marches were organized worldwide, in over 25 countries and on 5 continents, and brought people to the streets to stand up against climate change. But the Kids vs. Global Warming team isn't just organizing marches, they're also taking a stand in court, suing the government to protect the atmosphere for the youngest generation.
Marches are being organized through May 14, 2011. Find one near you or organize your own. You can also take part in the movement by signing the iMatter petition.
